Job ads being placed here are basically for jobs which most Sinkies will not want to do, e.g. low pay and long hours and/or inaccessible places and/or semi-dangerous work. The pay for jobs here will be 100% below $2K/mth. Unless for sales jobs — but even so, you need to be able to do cold calling and sell at least $20K of stuff to total strangers every month to have a chance to earn >$2K/mth.
Think about it — if the employer can’t be bothered to spend $50 to advertise in the papers, what kind of salary do you think will be given? No need to talk about “benefits” — that will be alien language.
Basically if you do a cost-benefit analysis, you wouldn’t want to do most jobs here, as they will not allow you to buy a flat, raise a well-adjusted family, and prepare your children adequately for the harsh competitiveness of S’pore. These jobs here are strictly for survival purposes.

You have a cynnical point of view. But that’s ok.
What makes you think employers are not spending money to advertise elsewhere? You think we get the best candidates here through this channel? Only big MNCs with seizable HR budgets can afford headhunters and nice packages for the best candidates.
Why can’t people seize the opportunities and take on the job? For all you know, the jobs may allow them to meet people, who may provide better employment. If one does not give opportunities a chance, then there will be no chance.
And then,stop complaining about foreign workers coming in to take on these jobs. These are honest jobs, which may not pay well. But at least better nothing.
If want to get a honest job then many of us here also can go work as security guard, cleaner, coffeeshop helper, factory operator etc.
Whether the jobs may or may not allow us to meet people, who may provide better employment. For that we won’t know coz it really depend on luck. Sometimes opportunities can turn out to be some kind of bad luck. When i managed to secure job(s), i was happy. But it later turned out to be some lousy jobs with high turnover rate. No wonder i can get the jobs coz some don’t want it.
Besides advertising here, if employers also have spend money to advertise elsewhere but still can’t get the workers that they want, then something must be wrong with the jobs. MNCs are also employers too, they also believe in minimise costs & maximise profits concept. Many practise lean & six sigma mgmt. Few will pay workers well. That is why foxconn, Nike, Adidas got complained for exploiting workers.
Employers sure want Sporeans to stop complaining about foreign workers & welcome them coming in to take on these jobs coz they like exploiting workers.
