Secondment abuse by MNC in Singapore ensures Singaporeans have no jobs

Hi Gilbert

I understand that MNCs having an overseas presence can transfer  their foreign PMET employee headcount to Singapore to work using training passes issued by the MOM.

I am referring to the MOM-issued legitimate training passes.

This is a deadly practice that will guarantee Singaporeans  have no jobs because the salary of the training employee is  accounted at their overseas firm (which may be a less developed country and cheaper such as Malaysia).

Once their training has been completed, the seconded employee can actually apply for a job in Singapore because they have the “EXPERIENCE” which is acquired through secondment.

This totally KILLS OFF ANY CHANCE OF SINGAPOREANS GETTING A JOB BECAUSE IT 100 PERCENT ENSURES NO SINGAPOREAN IS GOING  TO HAVE ANY JOB EXPERIENCE RELEVANT FOR THE ROLE  THAT WAS CULTIVATED with the secondment technique.

MOM and ICA totally have no control over this at all.

    Not to worry. When this seconded personnel recruited by their overseas MNC firms here in Spore do not perform well, they will be kicked out of here. Gahmen is looking at Sporean Core in companies here (by labeling them as Triple Weak Sporean Core)

    This has been happening for many years already. 10 years ago I used to rent out 1 of my condos to Emerson (a large US MNC) on a corporate rental basis and they used it to house such trainees on a rotating 3-month to 6-month basis.

    Even SMEs are abusing it by setting up shell companies in Malaysia and then bringing in cheap M’sian “trainees” into Singapore to do work.

    On a personal basis I don’t mind MNCs doing this as it merely improves my being able to rent out my condos on corporate rental schemes (which are quite good). But not those cheater SMEs as they definitely cannot afford my rental and they usually stay in Geylang hostels.

    It guarantees NO SINGAPOREAN will ever get a job in Singapore
    because company experience by the foreign PMET is recognized
    as something unique which Singaporeans cannot produce.

    Of course Singaporeans can’t come up with the experience at all
    when its time for MOM to check.

    The manipulation of the system to get cheap foreign workers
    is WAY TOO OBVIOUS.

    PAY ULTRA CHEAP SALARY AND WITHOUT CPF. WHICH EMPLOYER DOESN’T WANT ????

    And please don’t create a “blame culture” ok?! Otherwise the Meritocratic Elite won’t look either meritocratic or elite anymore (indeed all these scholars and paper generals with 2 year Temasek stints will look stupid, amateurish and incompetent all at the same time) and they cannot have their cake and eat it too ok.

    Like XYZ, I’m renting out my flat to foreigners so I dont mind how hopeless job situation is for my countrymen … when the time comes, I will just offload my properties to some foreign talents and leave SG, sever any ties or Khala with my home and live a new life, one with dignity and no more begging to our govt to correct their mistakes … let the foreigners decide the future of my home country, for my heart is already dead …
