Cleaner earning $1200 struggling with providing basic necessities for family

Hi Brother Gilbert

I came across your facebook and read how you have extended help to needy families.

I am currently working as a cleaner with $1200 salary.

My wife has been diagnosed with severe diabetes for many years and currently is unable to work as she has severe leg problems and unable to walk.  I have a 10-year-old son in school.  I stay in a one-room rented flat.

Life is very tough, as I have to support my family as well as my sister who is also physically weak and unable to work too. My mum just passed away.  I have to pay monthly installment for her funeral expenses incurred.

My other sibling is also jobless.  It is hard to make end meets with this small salary.

I also face struggles with providing food for my family at times.

Right now my PUB bill also got terminated and my cupboards are getting very old and falling apart at home.

I am also troubled with buying assessment books for my child.  I hope your charitable organization can help me.

I can be contacted at 8434XXXX.

Thank you for reading my email (a good friend helped me to pen it to you).

I hope to hear from anyone of you on any form of assistance I can receive.

You can try to see your MP or go to the family centre nearest to your home to seek help. Everyone of us has a unique combination of problems and there is no one-size-fit-all approach to solving them. If you got a driving licence, you can try to drive a cab or a bus. It is hard for one person to survive on $800+ per month after CPF deduction, and you even have to support a whole family.

You can try to get bursary for your son’s school expenses and seek the help of medical social workers for your wife and sister. They can apply for medifund to cover their medical costs. Your sibling can also help you to take care of your wife and sister while you are working.

Go and consider to become a screwty guard that give you more chances to do overtime or work as part time guard during your off day as cleaner.
Less time for family but that is fate.
I am poorer than many here but I work long hours for any job that is available .
