l work as a Senior Manager in Marina Bay Sands (MBS). l am currently 43 years old.
Last Thursday, l was called into a meeting room and handed a termination letter and pay for another month of salary until end of Aug.
However,l have to leave the office on the spot.
There was no reason give for my termination and it was not due to performance issue. It was stated clearly by the HR that my termination was not due to performance issue.
However, the company refuses to state any other reason except termination, e.g. re-org etc l refused to sign the letter and l was given the option to resign so that l have a ‘better’-looking letter from MBS.
They have prepared such letter and once l opt for resign, the HR immediately show me another letter and ask me to sign.
There is no other options as the meeting was only 30 minutes. So l am forced to sign and leave the company with great disappointment.
l called MOM and report this case but they told me since the job required tertiary education, it is not cover under the employment act.
l am wondering what other options are there to highlight such unprofessional practice by the company.
This is the 3rd time l lost my job but the last 2 cases, l was treated with much respect and humanity when l left the companies. l am really upset with the way MBS handle my terminated.
On the same day, another of my colleague got the same treatment immediately after me.
We were totally lost after the incident and wonder what have we done to deserve such treatment.
