Sign our online petition against high influx of foreign workers

Dear Singaporeans,

Foreign workers have  overloaded our infrastructure, compete with mid-ranged PMETs for jobs, lower our starting salaries  and jack up our housing cost.

Today, there are 1.8 million foreigners living in our midst and it looks like our government will not stop the influx so that our GDP will look good.

The government has  also blamed us for not having  enough births – so they  have no choice but to bring in more foreigners to replace the slowing population.

We want to ask the government what has they do to improve births here? Nothing much unfortunately…

We are not targetting those foreigners who work in the service or construction sectors as these are jobs that Singaporeans have difficulty working due to the low pay structure and work nature.

However, we are very against the open-door nature of our manpower policy which allows employers to hire 100% foreigners using the Employment Pass (EP) work permits. The employers only need to pay a salary of $3000/month and the worker  needs to have a basic degree in order to qualify for the EP passes.

We see many banks and MNCs employing 90-100% foreigners in their work places leaving local Singaporeans with no work opportunities.

EP work permit holders have all along directly compete with local PMETs  for work especially for those who are in the mid-ranged positions.

We have also heard of many stories of how foreign employers or HR managers employing their own kind in work places, further denying local Singaproeans of job opportunities.

This has to stop! This is our country!

We are petitioning that EP work permit passes be issued with a quota  so that local Singaporeans will not be disadvantaged.

We also want legislations in place to deter foreign employers from  continuing  employing their own kind - unfairly denying local Singaporeans from suitable positions.

We need you to help us spread the word among your Singaporean friends to garner a target of 5000 signatures to send the right signal to our government.

This petition seems to have left out Singaporean uncles and aunties who have to compete for low-paying jobs in coffee shops, and Singaporean factory workers, all who have to compete with foreign unskilled workers who are willing to accept low wages(in Singapore terms), wages that can hardly get them by, let alone afford a decent standard of living. Why aren’t these group who are in more dire needs, included in this petition?
