Singaporean rejected by employers for service job in hotels and IRs

I emphatise with Ms @Emmi Sulaiman as I have been there where Singaporean employers actually rejected my application when I went to apply for a service- related job in hotels in Singapore - Fullerton Hotel, Ritz Carlton, Conrad International, the 2 IRs to name a few. Almost all the applicants I saw were foreigners. Not that I do not have any experience as a frontline service provider. On the contrary, my testimonials and certs reflected my positive apptitude in the service sector. What *Lau Chuen Wei commented recently is a disservice to Singaporeans like me and other Singaporeans who are keen to work in the service industry. She needs to do her homework before commenting.

Lau Chuen Wei is a stooge of the government and would just propagate loud and clear the excuses for the b***s*** policies.

We are the people on the ground, we see and hear what’s happening. They said the  IRs hiring mostly Singaporeans, but almost all foreigners  are now working at the IRs. Then now they said IRs employ many Singaporeans and PRs. Of course, most of the foreigners were given PR  as if  handing out toilet papers. Statistically speaking, we all know that PRs are group together as Singaporeans for counting purposes. I went to the money exchange, the guy helping out  also has a PR worker, he has no special skills or anything. But why? It is all about winning at elections, these new citizens or PRs will vote them in.

Our Singapore pay has been stagnant for many years, only the ministers’ pay already  in the millions goes up every year. We face competition at every corner for lower pay, but they have no competition, like an iron bowl. These foreigners do not have any special skills except they are willing to accept a lower pay. Look at the cost of living and HDB housing cost – already out of touch and reach and can you accept a lower pay and survive?

Yeah we have foreigners doing menial jobs such as cleaners, general workers but now we find them as F*B managers, supervisors and all over the place from malls, shopping centres, priavte companies and IRs. Look here, the STimes recruitment sectioncontinues to be so thin, and we imported 2M of them here? Do we have 10M jobs for these people?

But at the end of the day, you complain but you continue to support them. So just bear with your complaints and bite the bullet to be cheaper, better and  faster.
