Jack Neo and wife broke down in tears during press conference on 11 March 2010

Reporting from 东方天蝎大楼, 10.20am

Beleaguered Jack Neo, who was rocked by a series of sex scandals since last Saturday after his mistress alerted the media of his sexual exploits, finally broke his silence on the saga.

The press conference venue at 东方天蝎大楼 was already swarmed by reporters from both SPH and Mediacorp 10 minutes before it began.

As the media waited in anticipation, Jack Neo’s manager went on stage and reminded everybody present that this will be the one and only press conference given by Jack and here will be no further comments on this matter. There will also not be a Q&A session much to the disappointment of the crowd.

Jack and his wife arrived at 10.15am and was seen walking to the stage holding hands together.

Jack began by saying in mandarin:

“Dear friends of the media, thanks for your concern over the last few days. I would like to stress that all that had happened is solely the fault of mine and does not involve anybody else. I feel very fortunate today that my wife has forgiven me.”

Halfway through the press conference, Jack Neo broke down and cried.

“My wife has suffered more pain than any woman in this world. I am very sorry for what has happened. This is my last time speaking to the media.”

Jack then passed the mike to his wife, who said:

“I do not know how to handle the media…..All I want to say is that I have forgiven Jack.  I treasure Jack Neo, my marriage and my children. I have been hurt alot. I ask the media to let us off and give us some space and your blessings. Thank you,” she cried.

The press conference ended abruptly before it began. As Jack and his wife left the stage, the journalists rushed to surround them for further questions which caused a stir when members from Jack’s production team shouted at them to leave the couple alone.

Jack’s wife was reported to have fainted upon leaving the press conference.

A father of four, Jack is arguably Singapore’s most famous and successful movie director with a series of award-winning films such as “I not stupid” and “Run children!” under his belt.

The sex scandal has gripped the attention of the entire nation as Jack Neo is a familiar figure with many Singaporeans with his landmark “Comedy Night” in the 1990s.

He is also awarded a PBM in 2004 for his grassroots volunteer work and a Cultural Medallion in 2005. A PAP member himself, he is rumored to be close to Foreign Minister George Yeo who jumped almost immediately to his defence, calling on Singaporeans to rally around him.

While guys are more tolerant of his misadventures - a survey done by Lianhe Wanbao revealed that 75 percent of the men polled are willing to forgiving him, many women are disappointed and disgusted by hiss infidelity and vow to boycott his films from now onwards.

Jack has since apologized to his wife Irene Kng who has forgiven him. Speaking to Lianhe Wanbao yesterday, she said Jack is now like her “baby” whom she “sayangs” everyday.

Jack is a hypocrite! I don’t think he will learn from his mistake. From the newspaper which swarms with all flirting and sex scandals, I have totally lost faith in him. He used to be a good husband and father in our eyes, but with the incident and more exposure of what is happening, we have saw the true colour of him finally! Don’t think he deserves any of my respect in future. I will definitely boycott his movie in future.

  2. No personal malice intended:

I think the amount of media pressure levelled against Jack is disgusting as well as the opportunists such as the 16 year old who appears to be benefitting from the press exposure from Mr Neo’s misfortune. Free A&P, don’t you think?

He has made a mistake and received unequivocal forgiveness from his wife, why attack him further? This has already strained his personal network and the respect of his loved ones – I don’t think it is appropriate for us to crucify him. The gravity of this situation is only made large by Jack’s fame and possibly the print media’s attempt to sell more copies. And did anyone realise that Wendy Chong’s model mayhem page has gotten more hits in one week than it did over her entire career?

There are bigger problems in Singapore and the world right now. How about the lack of nurses or unemployment levels? Seriously, what about IRs that appear to be employing so many S-passes?

And for us to boycott his movies will only damage our Singapore Movie industry – dont forget the poor part timers, production companies, editing companies, aspiring actors, colorists, post-production staff, recordists and more that will get less opportunities as a resort of a juvenile boycott due to some moral highground that everyone seems to be crawling up as a result of this tidal wave of shame.

Dont judge a man’s entire career and life on one mistake, please.

Cannot agree more with Saito… the man has already admitted to his mistake and the most important thing is that the wife has forgiven him and want to get on with their life, so for goodness sake leave them alone.

Wendy.. more like a slut than what she claims.. loves Jack? who is she kidding? and she is the one who wants to leave Jack? really, then why confront the wife? wtf. and brings along her whole family? my god?
The rest of the womean who NOW suddenly comes out to claim being sexually harassed? Hello, isn’t it a little too late? and how true is this? More for the exposure and it shows what type of women they are… anyway it takes two to clap.
So men, becareful you don’t run into such sluts, thinking how wonderful the relationship is. Before they catch and hook on to you, yes. After that, this is normally what happens? Wendy the slut.. is a good example. What is she expecting… getting involved with a married man with NO qualms, and then expecting him to leave the the family for a slut like her.. she got to be kidding?

  4. Kelli says:

the 24/7 obsession with celebs has enriched them as well as exposed every bit of their personal lives to the public. Neo, like all celebs, made a deal with the devil: let celebrity enrich you, but trade your personal life for a public one. He made the deal, now he’s paying the devil. I have no sympathy for him.

  5. Oroku Saki says:

Wow, this is crazy. He messed up, it’s good that she forgave him and all – but he should not have made this mistake to begin with.

  6. Yuri Lee says:

Jack’s wife is a martyr. If I were her, I’d love to divorce my husband. I have no sympathy for Jack for what he has done.

  7. Yuri Lee says:

On the good side, however, Jack was deeply apologetic to his wife.

  8. John Chua says:

I pity Jack but I pity his wife even more. If I were Irene Kng, I would definitely file a divorce right away! Jack has caused her emotional distress when he was involved in that notorious and shameful sex scandal.

  9. Katie Smith says:

Hands up to Jack’s wife! Most women if they found out that their husband cheated on them would not even hesitate to pack up and leave their husband. Only a few will actually stay with them and forgive their husband.

  10. Tim says:

It would be better off for them to seek divorce. Infidelity is one of the leading causes of divorce. Jack has caused his wife tremendous forms of abuse.

I always go back to this site to read inspiring and true stories of unemployed and underemployed. These stories give me strength and courage to move on.

On the topic: I guess, it is better for both Jack and his wife to go on separate ways.
