Business Development Executive Job Opening: Salary $1500 – $1800 Too Low? (Jobsdb 5 Mar)

Number of View: 8117

Dear Readers,

I came across this job advertisement for the position of business development executive (entry level). The minimum educational level is diploma holder  with 2 years experience but fresh graduates are invited to apply.

Do you think that the offer salary is too low for such a position?  It also appears that they are trying to entice fresh graduates to apply as this appears twice on the job advertisement. If you are a graduate, will you apply for this position?

There is also no mention that the job is meant only for Singaporeans or permanent residents. So I guess foreigners can also apply for the position. The salary quoted of between $1500 – $1800 is  also just nice for the S Pass work permit criterion (minimum $1800 with levy).

Do email me at gilbert@transitioning.org or left your thoughts on the comment page below. Thanks.

Gilbert

  7. Denial Tan says:

The position for business development should be a junior sale job, while the project management is sale support. It is a junior position is because they had mentioned that fresh graduate will be considered.

I believed that the sales position should also come with a commission scheme to compensate for the low salary. If there is no commission, then this is considered a very lowly paid job and the take up rate should be very low and better applicants will shun the job. Salesperson with good track record will usually not take up such offers because good salespersons is still very sought after.

As for the sales support, for $1500 there will be no takers, but for $1800 with a small commission, there may be some takers. It all boils down to how attractive is the commission. If there is not commission, the take up rate should be quite low and the quality of the taker is also doubtful.
