As a Chinese man who hailed from the most humble of beginnings, and who graduated from the school of hard knocks against all odds, I can say this: It has to be the innate desire to excel that is resident in our Han spirits that drives us ever onward and upward, whatever our stations in life, however dire our straits, wherever we may chance to be placed.
