Hi Gilbert

I’ve often come across your letters to the forum, and recently stumbled upon Transitioning.Org. I hope things are fine with you.

I work as a professional headhunter, and while I may not have experienced unemployment or retrenchment myself, I have to say my heart goes out to candidates I have come across in my line of work who have been laid off or unable to seek employment. A job is more than just a job– it is a security blanket, and it provides for the family.

Which is why after coming across Job Angels in Canada, I was inspired to start a similar project of my own. I’m calling it “Sponsor A Job@SG” and I started the project on Facebook (link here) and a wordpress blog – http://sponsorajob.wordpress.com. The concept is simple: referrals. I’m inviting people to refer either someone they know who has been unable to find jobs, and people who know of opportunities and link them up, absolutely free-of-charge. And I would like to tap on social networking tools to bring this about.

This may seem strange for a headhunter to do something like this, but I believe there is no conflict, if you like: i am engaged professionally by clients to find candidates, on the other hand, I hope to use my expertise and networks to help those in need.

I would like to invite you to be part of Sponsor A Job as an administrator on the Facebook site, and as a contributor to the wordpress blog. I’m planning to bring Sponsor A Job to Twitter soon.

Let me know what you think. It is my believe that Sponsor A Job can be done in a simple yet meaningful way, without anyone having to spend a lot of time doing it.

I hope to hear from you. Please feel free to email me at my personal email at royphang@ymail.com to link up.

Thank you, and God bless.

regards
Roy Phang
