Dear Kev

These commercial education centers do serve a need which the govt failed to provide through their myopic education policy.
It is obvious now that right from the beginning, the warp idea of an elite ruling class, and a worker class can be defined by early academic achievements. That should explain their policy of denying higher tertiay education locally to the broader populace.
The quality of education provided by these commercial centers may not be the best, but at least they are now more available venues for S'poreans to secure a degree; which happens to be a pre-requisite for that job interview in most pmet openings today.
Isn't that better than having the jobs taken by FTs armed with sub-standard degrees.
Cheers

I have read enough about how the incumbent government wants Singapore to become a hub for private education. But this case of "Degree mills"(places offering unaccreditated and fake degrees) is not new here, alongside the case of teachers in private colleges offering students the answers or questions to the exams way before the examinations on private occasions. Having obtained my degrees both from a local university here, and a research-based Canadian university, I was ALWAYS iffy and scornful of the degree to which Singaporeans flock to pursue education at these private centers, because they are run EXACTLY like management centers, offering you the false hope of tertiary education in exchange for money but having next to no credentials. I don't even think CASE-accreditation cuts it in terms of recognition of degree.
