HERE in Australia, where I have relocated, the implementation of a minimum wage system has prevented the exploitation of hiring practices.

Low-end workers such as cleaners, labourers or clerical assistants are protected with this wage system.

The myth that such a system will bankrupt many businesses has been debunked as Australia is still thriving.

People, in fact, work harder and are more satisfied with their working environment as they are adequately compensated.

The minimum wage system deters employers from employing too many cheaper foreigners as there is no benefit to hiring them.

Compare this to Singapore employers who hire foreigners based chiefly on their lower salary expectations over all other employment perimeters.

This hurts employment opportunities for local workers, who do need a certain minimal income to make ends meet as compared to foreign workers.

The adoption of a minimum wage system will also effectively solve the issue of employers not keen to hire older, mature workers.
