Fresh grads, here’s an option

Letter from Mary G Tan Senior Vice-President and Head, Human Resources Division, NTUC Income
05:55 AM Jul 15, 2009

THE report “Amid the job search …” (July 7) featured interesting views by fresh graduates who have chosen to pursue alternative options before starting a full-time job in the current recession.

One person quoted in the story was an applicant to our graduate trainee programme, Ms Hong Enlin.

Ms Hong was reported to have chosen to pursue her passion for jewellery design in New Zealand before finding out the outcome of her application. We respect Ms Hong’s decision to take an entrepreneurial route, and wish her all the best for her future endeavours.

At the same time, we would like to take this opportunity to shed more light on NTUC Income’s graduate trainee programmes for the benefit of readers who, like Ms Hong, are seeking such opportunities.

Our programme, which was launched this year, is a management trainee platform designed for driven and dynamic graduates who want to work and succeed in a modern financial institution and a social enterprise.

As it taps on the Government’s Jobs Credit Scheme and funding from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, application is open to all Singaporeans and Permanent Residents.

As with all such programmes, candidates will be evaluated through interviews, ability and personality assessment and business simulation exercises, over two to three stages.

Successful candidates can look forward to a challenging and rewarding career where they will be groomed to take on leadership positions within NTUC Income, and where they can make a difference by pursuing commercial excellence for the betterment of people in Singapore.

We welcome all fresh graduates who are drawn to this career opportunity to apply to us.
