Six of us in transition volunteered our services at Bizlink on 21 May from 9am to 4.30pm.
It was a fruitful day as we all woke up earlier than usual to help out the jobfair at Chai Chee Lane.
Three of us did traffic control whereas the rest helped out in counter sales. I was there also to publicise our transitioning society and to sell my books (cost price of $5).
It was a good time of mixing around with people who face physical disabilities and other challenges and learned from them how to cope with affirmities.
One guy in transition also told me that he got some “lobang” while helping out with a person in wheelchair.
I always believed that when you give it will come back to you many folds and sometimes more than what you have given out.
I wish that more people in transition will come out of their home and volunteer their time. Though it can be inconvenient and troublesome having to wake up earlier and journey all the way to the site the returns are sometimes worth it.

Of course, it is not right to expect anything in return while volunteering as one may get disappointed if there is no tangible returns while we help out. Nevertheless, it is safe to say that we all feel satisfied and that it s time well spent when we render our services to the less fortunate.
We are felt tired but glad that we have turned up to volunteer at Bizlink’s jobfair and this would not be the last event that we will help out.
Transitioning will look out for mroe volunteering opportunites for people in transition. Hopefully, we can get more people to help out in future events.
