Today just did a talk on “Finding meaning in transition” at my previous trainging academy (Executive counselling and traning academy) for 2 hours.
The crowd was ok numbering around 40 and most of them were counselling interns at the academy. A couple of them were also unemployed plus some unemployed site readers who came to support me.
Topics covered include:
1. Emotional matters relating to unemployment
2. Financial matters
3. Job search related issues
Found that there was a need for such a topic as many will be unemployed soon. I am also trying to arrange a talk targetting the unemployed in mid May through my site and other VWOs/FSCs. Realised that most counsellers may be abit short on learning how to counsel the unemployed here.
I didn’t envisage speaking to counsellors but more to the unemployed so is something that is surprising for me.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the place will be packed (50 seats available) for my next talk. I find that my experience will mean more to the unemployed.
The feedback was good though for the talk and there were some notable pointers on how I can improve on my next talk.
Overall, a good day to start the week ahead. Rating? 9/10…
