Today was a mild day for me probably because was abit down with the flu.
Nevertheless, I still went for a short run just to sweat it out. The weather was also cool for a good run.
I tend to have ached bones if I dont run for more than three days and today is the third day of rest from my last run on Sunday.
I find running exhilirating and readers should have known from my book that I took up running when I was uanemployed since the Sars period.
When I run I tend to forget about the worries of the day and the focus on the 30-minute 4km run.
Often, ideas flow to my mind as my body works out. In Sydney, I realised that during each run, I would have ideas flowing to my mind for the book and often I would run home immediately to note down the idea on a notepad so that I won’t lose the idea after a time lap.
I encourage readers in transition now to go for regular exercise. It can be cycling, gym, swimming or simply a walk in the park. Learn to look out for things that never interest you before.
For example, as I ran this morning along the canal at Potong Pasir, I realised that there was a big billboard besides a factory that read “TRANSFORMED”.
The word seemed illuminating and I remembered it all the while during my run.
I felt that we are all being transformed during this transitional period. Many I knew took time to reflect and recharge during this downturn.
Singaporeans are all guilty of over working. Sometimes, a long downturn is also good for us to take stock of our situation.
It is also time for people to plan out the next phase of their life. Many of us work in jobs becasue they pay our bills. Rarely do people work for satisfaction or they really find meaning in their work. Work then become a joy and Monday mornings become easier to bear.
Let us take charge of our life and plan to do things that we like in our work!

Hi Gilbert
If you have a flu, its best to take a break. Running is no good for you. Listen to your body. When you need rest, you just have to relax a bit.
Cheers
June
Ok thanks June – just a short slow run…
