Today marked the second day of my unemployment. Rating for the whole day? 8/10!
Was a somewhat frutiful day as I managed to interview three persons for my second book.
The day cruised past smmothly as the spring got to my step again when I went to see my third person for interview in the afternoon.
I guess the unemployed need to really plan out their time properly so that they don’t feel that they are always couped up in the house. Many I knew would just stay at home for fear that their neighbours will mock and talk behind their back. Others thought that by going out they will feel guilty and are having fun when they should be busily looking for jobs. Some may also feel bad after telling their spouses that they went out the whole day.
As there are many that will be jobless from now on, there will be at least one family member that will be out of job per household. So, I guess family members also need a break from us as they may feel more stressful with us around them whole day. An outing every other day is helpful for both parties especially if the partner is a housewife.
Find time to visit a long lost friend or relative whom you have not meet up for many years. When we start to work we may not have the time to do so. Look out old teachers or prinicpals who may have make an impart in your life.
Follow through a hobby which you have along wanted to do but have no time to pursue. I did mentioned in my book that I turned to jogging during my unemployment period in 2002/3 and have not stop jogging since. I also took part in the annual Standard Chartered Marathon. I thought exercising is a good habit that I want to continue for the rest of my life.
A PMET who was jobless for four months told me that he found alot of joy doing up his home as he could not do so when he was working. His only worry is what can he do next when all his household works are all completed!
As the unemployed have tons of free time on hand, one tends to be abit lazy and some may even take afternoon nap during the afternoon. This may become a habit and impedes the work performance of the person who finds work later on. He may fall asleep diuring his job in the afternoon!
Many I spoke to also are not keen to volunteer their time with welfare homes. I wonder why.
Volunteering not only brings forth a sense of doing something good for others but also improves the lives of the unfortunate. Try volunteering if you have the time and means. You never know how fruitful it is if you never try.

When I was jobless, I visited my old schools. I took buses and enjoyed finding out different ways to travel.
I resumed jogging and going to the gym seriously. I even went jogging to Tree Top Walk at least twice weekly.
