Hi All
There are voluntary opportunites available at Bizlink – a voluntary welfare organisation that runs workshops at Chai Chee Lane (JTC). They need able bodied individuals to work alongside their physically challenged clients at the workshop.
This is an ideal situation for thsoe who are looking for something meaningful to do while they are out sourcing for work after being retrenched.
Anedoctal evidences have shown that when the unemployed spent their time meaningfully helping others they themselves will not feel so depressed and moody. It also gives them a chance to reconnect with the community instead of holing up at home facing the four walls just waiting for interviews from the recruiter.
The body and mind also turn lame when we are stucked at home on our own on a prolonged basis. The situation is make worse if we have kids to handle at home. Our children also need some space from us.
If you are keen to volunteer your time to help the disabled, please email me at gilbert@transitioning.org. You can spend any amount of time that you want at the centre subject to certain pre-conditions. The organiser will speak with you more on this.
The CEO of Bizlink has also willingly absorb transport (public) and meal costs on a daily basis for those who volunteer.
As there is a limited number of voluntary positions, readers are encouraged to email me asap so that I can connect you with Bizlink.
