Support group activities will be one of the main services that we will offer to our readers besides online counselling and networking sessions.
Support group is meant for people with a common issue to come and share their innermost feelings with one another. Moreover, sometimes, through the sessions, some networking ideas may come about.
More importantly, support group activities allow people to have a common platform whereby they can support one another unconditionally. Much synergy is also generated during the sharing.
For example, in the CDC that I worked before two years ago, I co-led a support group of eight unemployed PMETs. It was a chance for many who are unemployed for up to a year to come together and draw strength from one another. Surprisingly, out of the eight participants, seven were men.
After the four sessions ended, six managed to get work on their own reinforcing the psychological theory that sometimes emotional barrier may hider some from getting re employment.
With that in mind, I am opening the support group activities to all our active readers here. There will be four sessions held fortnightly on a weekday afternoon for two hours. The sessions will commence in early March.
Please email me at gilbert@transitioning.org if you are keen to attend.
The sessions will be facilitated by a certified professional counsellor (master degree in psychology).
Details will be made known to you via email. This is a free service and is based on a first come first serve basis.
We will close the application once we reach a certain figure.
Thank you.
Gilbert
